Doris Lacson Bauer’s Inspiring Story
Doris Lacson Bauer’s story is one of resilience, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to giving back. Born in Manila and raised in Bauang, La Union, Philippines, she pursued her passion for nursing at the Baguio General Hospital School of Nursing before immigrating to the United States. Over the years, she built a dynamic career, working across multiple states—including Florida, California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada—becoming a leader in infusion therapy and a respected advocate for the nursing profession.
Doris’s drive to serve her community is deeply personal. Arriving in the U.S. with just a one-year contract, a few belongings, and $100 to her name, she was profoundly touched by the kindness of those who helped her and her fellow nurses adjust to their new lives. This experience instilled in her a lifelong mission to pay it forward, leading to her involvement in numerous community outreach programs and educational initiatives.
Her tireless efforts have earned her prestigious accolades, including:
• The Diversity Award from the Nevada Action Coalition
• Distinguished Nurse Leader with Lifetime Achievement Award from the Nevada Nurses Foundation
In addition to her healthcare leadership, Doris is a columnist for The Philippine Times of Southern Nevada and an active member of multiple healthcare advocacy groups, making a significant impact on the Filipino-American community.
Beyond her professional achievements, Doris is a devoted family woman. She is happily married to Harold Wayne, and they have two children, Erik and Jennifer. The family resides in Las Vegas, where Doris has lived for many years. She also cherishes her close ties with her siblings—Jorge in San Diego and Joseph and Joslyn in the Philippines.
Doris Lacson Bauer is more than just a nurse—she is a leader, educator, and a voice for the community. Through FilipiNARS, she continues to uplift and empower, proving that healthcare is more than just a profession—it’s a calling to serve.
