David Tupaz lounged in comfort as he reflected on a memory that served as a catalyst when he envisioned his future at the age of 8 years. “My grandmother brought me to see My Fair Lady (the movie) and Audrey Hepburn was transformed from a poor flower vendor to an Aphrodite; and that, he thought – is what I want to do: Dress women with beautiful clothes!”
My grandfather was likewise instrumental to my career as his words of wisdom stuck in my brain because he kept repeating what had been the heritage I lived by to this day: “You have to be the best of what you can do!” … and that is what I advise to all creative artists.
Born in Manila, Philippines from the prominent family of the El Oro jeweler and metal engraver since 1911, David pursued his vision to outrun his dream and jumped forth to its realization. His genius in glamourizing popular Hollywood personalities has positioned his reputation to be “the best of what he can do”, indeed! He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada where he coveted 2 days named as ‘David Tupaz Day’ being June 3rd, and ‘David Tupaz Couture Day’, December 13th respectively, unanimously presented by governing bodies, headed by then-Mayor Carolyn Goodman in an awarding ceremony which David admitted to be “the happiest day of my life”, and the second (happiest) moment was when I was awarded the “International Designer of the Year by Metropolitan Fashion Week in 2015. Over and above that, he is a multi-award recipient of world-renowned fashion couture entities. David is a “natural” creative virtuoso, and the list of popular and noteworthy names that flood, not only the movie industry, fashion and lifestyle magazines but including social media too. The “DT” brand has brought gratification to those that significantly facilitated recognition for his achievements and all worth every distinction! …and to culminate his farsighted goals, the creative genius can now encompass his capacity as David was recently elected to the Board of Directors of FilAmTV Network, members of which – all have their own well-defined stature in each of their fields of professionalism in the media industry.
Las Vegas is a haven of all iconic professions worthy of applause; and David said, “Every city in the world is represented to exhibit their expertise in Las Vegas – except the city of Las Vegas”. This, therefore, is the right place to flaunt what the locals can contribute to every industry! As a local of Vegas, I am proud to have Las Vegas excel in fashion couture, and to mark such representation, I have opened the first “Couture Atelier” in Las Vegas’ history. He is also the President of “Vegas Fashion Project”, the first trade expo for designers and their products.
“I now challenge each and every creative artist to show the world what they do best.” David founded a nonprofit organization called the Las Vegas Fashion Design Council, which intended to assist and mentor youthful budding designers and artists within the city. Take this a lead, dear readers.
